General rule: Minimum handholdable shutter speed = 1 / (focal_length * crop_factor)
For example, on 300D, 200mm needs at least 1/320s to handhold a sharp picture. On 50D, it can reduce to 1/200s. WIth IS, you may hold it at 3-stop down.
